Refund and Dispute Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Refunds for orders placed through a TapKio kiosk are handled directly by the Restaurant. TapKio does not process payments and cannot issue refunds on behalf of the Restaurant. This page explains how refunds and disputes are handled at the kiosk, and separately how disputes about TapKio's own software, hardware, and services are handled.

1. Restaurant-Issued Refunds (Customer Orders)

Each Restaurant sets and posts its own refund policy at the point of order. The Restaurant is responsible for evaluating refund requests in line with that policy and applicable consumer-protection law, and for sending any approved refund back to the customer through the same payment method or another method the Restaurant chooses to accept.

Refund timing depends on the payment method used. Most direct app de pago transfers are reversed by sending a new transfer rather than reversing the original.

2. No Card Chargebacks on Direct Payments

Most direct-payment methods such as Zelle, and many local instant-transfer apps de pago, do not offer the same dispute or chargeback rights as credit cards. Once funds are sent, recovery generally depends on the recipient agreeing to return them. Customers should confirm the order, recipient, and amount before sending payment, and contact the Restaurant directly for any concerns.

3. Order Errors and Food Quality

If an order is prepared incorrectly, missing items, or has a quality issue, the customer should raise it with Restaurant staff at the time of pickup or service. Staff can void, remake, or refund items in line with the Restaurant's policy.

4. Voids vs. Refunds

If an order is canceled before the kitchen ticket fires, staff can void the order at the dashboard. If payment has already been received but the order is canceled, a refund must be issued by the Restaurant through its bank or payment app.

5. Disputes With TapKio (Software, Hardware, Services)

For questions about TapKio software, hardware, professional services, or fees billed by TapKio, contact the TapKio support email hello@tapkio.com. We will work in good faith to resolve disputes promptly. Where applicable, the dispute resolution provisions of our Terms of Service apply.

6. Right to Refuse Service

Nothing in this policy limits a Restaurant's right to refuse service or to refund a customer at its discretion in line with applicable law.
