Payment Method Disclosure

Last updated: June 2026

TapKio is kiosk software. TapKio does not process payments, hold customer funds, route money, or act as a money transmitter, bank, or card network. This page explains how payments work on a TapKio kiosk and what each party is responsible for.

1. How Payments Work on TapKio

At checkout, the kiosk displays a payment QR or recipient handle, the exact order total, and an order reference. The customer pays directly to the Restaurant using a supported third-party payment method, such as Zelle in the U.S., Cash App, Venmo, or a local payment app in other countries. Staff then verifies that the deposit was received in the Restaurant's account and confirms the order on the staff dashboard before the kitchen ticket fires.

If staff cannot confirm the payment within a reasonable time, the order is not fulfilled. The customer should not consider the order complete until they receive on-screen or printed confirmation.

2. What TapKio Is Not

TapKio is not a bank, payment processor, money transmitter, money services business, e-money institution, or card network. TapKio does not move money on behalf of the customer or the Restaurant, does not hold funds in escrow, and is not a party to the underlying payment.

3. Third-Party Payment App Availability

Availability, eligibility, transaction limits, settlement timing, and fees for Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and country-specific apps de pago such as Yape, PIX, SPEI, MODO, Nequi, Bizum, or ATH Móvil depend on the customer's and the Restaurant's banks and on the policies of each provider. Restaurants should confirm availability, limits, fees, and acceptable account types directly with their financial institution before going live.

4. Risk Allocation

The Restaurant bears the risk of non-payment, late settlement, reversed transfers, mistaken sends, and provider downtime. Customers bear the responsibility to send the correct amount to the correct recipient before walking away from the kiosk. TapKio is not liable for losses arising from incorrect transfers, payment provider errors, or fraud committed by third parties.

5. Fraud and Suspicious Activity

Restaurants should train staff to watch for common fraud patterns (screenshots of fake confirmations, edited screenshots, request to refund an "overpayment"). Always verify the deposit inside the Restaurant's banking or payment app before confirming the order. Report suspected fraud to your bank or the relevant app de pago provider.

6. No Card Processing in Direct-Payment Mode

In direct-payment configurations there is no card reader and no card data is entered into the kiosk. TapKio does not represent that any specific transaction is free of fees imposed by the underlying bank or app de pago — those fees, if any, are set by the provider and are outside our control.

7. Zelle Notice

TapKio is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Zelle® or Early Warning Services, LLC. Zelle® is a registered trademark of its respective owner. Zelle availability depends on the Restaurant's bank or credit union and the type of business account used.

8. Cash App and Venmo Notice

TapKio is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Cash App, Block, Inc., Venmo, or PayPal, Inc. Cash App and Venmo are trademarks of their respective owners. Acceptance of business payments may be subject to those providers' business-account requirements.

9. Local Payment Method Notice

TapKio is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any country-specific payment provider including but not limited to Yape, PIX, SPEI, MODO, Nequi, Bizum, or ATH Móvil. All marks belong to their respective owners.

10. Tax Treatment

Direct-payment workflows do not change a Restaurant's tax obligations. The Restaurant remains responsible for recording sales, calculating taxes, and remitting them to the appropriate authorities. TapKio does not hide, reduce, calculate, report, or avoid taxes.
